~The Draconian History as told By Ryu Soma (Ancient)~

This is my story, 5000 years ago before the time of the original planet known as ‘Earth.’ It was when we were still living in Draconia, and were only just Dragons. The Draconian's were not even born as of yet, because the Dragons had yet to crossbreed with humans to keep their race alive. I am one of those original Dragons, one of the last preserved over a five thousand year period. I am only a spirit of course, still able to roam these lands within the walls of the Pendulum room. But here is the story…

--

We first arrived on Draconia 5,000 years ago. Back then we were only Dragons. But we had a problem. Our race and culture was dying. The only way we could possibly survive this was if we interbred with the race that was already on this planet. However we had to make sure that they would keep our culture alive and not forget the Teachings we lived so fondly by. They agreed of course and they themselves had become honorable of keeping certain teachings alive. Many also felt that they would be able to benefit from the Elemental teachings we had been born with naturally. The ‘humans’ had no real powers we could recognize, but they were master crafts makers, and that is how our sons and daughters were masters of the sword. They inherited that trait from the native populace. I was one of those original ancient dragons, was able to choose which ‘human’ I wanted. I picked one of them, whose name I still cannot remember. It had been so long…

Through various trials and errors as well as everyone trying their hardest, the first Draconian's were born one year later. First thing we started to notice was that the Draconian offspring always has the same element as their Dragon parent. But there was also a flaw. The element wasn't there until they reached a certain point in their lives. It took them much longer than we had expected them to develop it. We also noticed that the Draconian offspring were outliving their ‘human’ parents, almost as well as us. When they came close to their 100th year, that’s when their ‘First Transformation’ began, and their wings and elements arose.

Their Second and Third Transformations also came in 100 year intervals, but by this time we ourselves had begun to die. The planets atmosphere could not support us for much longer. I of course, was chosen to carry within myself the rest of the essence of the other Ancients. Along with our offspring, we were able to build a ship large and stable enough to carry us to another planet. This planet being ‘New Earth.’ But we had noticed that another race altogether had sought refuge here... 'Humans'. Fighting the natural dislike for humans I had – I brought our people into the Forests, to stay out of the human’s eyes as long as possible.

However I had begun to realize – maybe it was a bit late – but the Draconian’s didn't want to stay hidden. They wanted to see what this new Earth was about and what they could learn. Of course at my age, I was powerless to stop them. I had let them go out into the human world, half wondering if I was ever going to see my children again. And for some reason, I knew I wouldn't. I had kept a watch over them from the Lookout where I had been staying for quite some time, glad that I was able to look over them for a hundred or so more years, but even then I started to die, and I realized I did not have a hundred or so more years, but only a few short ones left. Therefore, before my death, I had asked the new Guardian of the Planet of 'New Earth' to be allowed to stay and watch over my children. My race of Draconians, even though I would only be a spirit capable of watching, it would be enough for me at the time. Yet I must digress, as I said before I had asked the Guardian to allow me to reside there as a watcher over my own race. Being that it would be a very difficult decision, she told me I had to wait two days for her decision. Her explanation to me was that if she allowed me to stay after I died, was that it would require a special place for my spirit to be linked to. So she left me with that thought for two days as she thought of how to help me and also where to link my spirit to. In the end she decided the Room that held a very special magic would be suitable for me. That room being the Pendulum Room, as it's magic could send anyone back in time or forward in time for special training. Plus the magic was strong enough to keep my spirit alive until I decided it was time for me to leave, and time to let my children grow up and move on.

My spirit remains linked to this world and Ancient Draconia, through the Pendulum Room inside the Lookout. I talk to the Guardian to this day, sometimes we argue, sometimes we fight, and at other times we have a good laugh together. We are friends, comrades, and teachers to each other. I teach her about the ancient wisdoms of my race and of the Draconians, and she in turns teaches me about humans and their desire for peace. For us it is a win win situation, even though at times we do have misunderstandings.

So it is here I stay, waiting for when this New Generation of Draconian’s arises to fight this new Evil. I also took notice that as the Generations grew, the new Draconian’s lost their natural ability to transform. I took some amount pleasure in that as it meant that I could once again see what my Children had created. Which would allow me to help them to reach their full potential once again, maybe after they have learned it once again, I can rest finally. It will be nice to see my brethren who passed on before me once again, but until that day comes, I watch, wait, learn and enjoy what I have.
